De topwedstrijd van het weekend tussen Volendam en Hurry-Up is prooi geworden voor de Zwartemeerders. De verrassing van de kampioenspoule blijft door de 26-32 uitoverwinning in de race voor de finale om de landstitel.
Het verschil in Noord-Holland werd voornamelijk voor rust gemaakt. Bij 6-8 liepen de Drenten uit, onder meer via zes treffers van Litouwse makelij. De formatie van Mark Schmetz kreeg weinig grip op het samenspel van vrienden Cibulskis en Trainavicius. Waar in de thuiswedstrijd Manuel Kremer zich onderscheidde onder de lat, was het in de return de beurt aan Guido Rink. Onder luid gejuich van ruim vijftig meegereisde supporters van Hurry-Up maakte de routinier een aantal fenomenale reddingen.
BEVO op bezoek in Drenthe
Na de thee liep het verschil even op naar negen doelpunten (19-28). Ieder doelpunt van de gasten werd met veel gejoel ontvangen in het uitvak. In de slotfase wist Volendam de eindstand te verbloemen. De thuisploeg lijkt uitgespeeld in de strijd om het landskampioenschap. Hurry-Up haakt aan. Met de thuiswedstrijd tegen BEVO op het programma hebben de Zwartemeerders drie verliespunten meer dan de blauw/gelen uit Panningen, terwijl de ploeg van Martin Vlijm Lions nog eens treft.
