Dimitris Katsikis speelt het komende seizoen in het oranje van Hurry-Up. De Drentse deelnemer aan de BENE-League heeft de Griek na een succesvolle trainingsstage aan de club verbonden.
De 24-jarige rechteropbouwer was twee dagen op proef in Nederland. De linkspoot liet een goede indruk achter. Hurry-Up besloot de transfervrije Katsikis een contract voor twee jaar aan te bieden.
Interlands
Katsikis kwam voor het laatst uit voor het Griekse IEK Xini Dikeas. Met de formatie uit hoofdstad Athene eindigde Katsikis op een vierde plaats op het hoogste niveau. In mei liep het contract van de bijna twee meter lange schutter af. De stand-in voor Ronald Suelmann heeft meerdere interlands voor Griekenland achter zijn naam staan.
Verder wist Martin Vlijm routinier Loek Hageman te verleiden tot een terugkeer in het eerste team. De 30-jarige opbouwer deed vorig jaar een stap terug, maar keert na de zomer terug op het hoogste niveau.
Deense doelman
De nummer drie van de afgelopen competitie heeft de selectie voor het nieuwe seizoen bijna rond. Na de komst van Sven Hemmes, Sjoerd Boonstra en Dimitris Katsikis hoopt Hurry-Up een doelman aan de selectie van Martin Vlijm te kunnen toevoegen. De proefperiode van een Deense doelman leidde niet tot een verbintenis.
