Volendamspeler en international Jorn Smits is weer fit. Dat maakte zijn club KRAS/Volendam vandaag bekend. Vanavond zal Smits naar alle waarschijnlijkheid zijn rentree maken bij de selectie van Volendam in de oefenwedstrijd tegen Alphadeuren/Houten.
Smits raakte in november geblesseerd tijdens de interland tegen Luxemburg. Hij kwam na een sprong verkeerd neer en verzwikte zijn enkel. Ruim 2 maanden later is hij dus weer fit. Voor Volendam komt de terugkeer van Smits wellicht nog op tijd. De formatie van Mark Schmetz staat momenteel op de 6de plaats in de BENE League en heeft nog maar twee speelrondes om zich te kunnen plaatsen voor de Final Four in het weekend van 6 en 7 februari. Om de Final Four te halen zal Volendam minimaal als 4de moeten eindigen. Het verschil met de huidige nummer 4 (Bochelt) bedraagt twee punten.
