Nadat al eerder OCI Lions zich zelf had verzekerd van de finale heeft afgelopen weekend ook Targos Bevo zich definitief weten te plaatsen voor de finale om het landskampioenschap. De ploeg van Martin Vlijm won in eigen huis met 26 – 20 van FIQAS/Aalsmeer.
Daarmee revancheerde Bevo zich voor de verloren halve finale twee weken geleden. Aalsmeer won toen met 22 – 27. Afgelopen zaterdag was in het bijzonder een heldenrol weggelegd voor Bart Ravensbergen. De jonge doelman verrichte tal van reddingen en werd uiteindelijk ook gekozen tot man of the match.
Martin Vlijm liet na afloop weten: “Het was een vechtwedstrijd. We begonnen goed. Aalsmeer profiteerde daarna van foutjes en slordigheden bij ons. De tweede helft hebben we geweldig verdedigd en de koppies erbij gehouden. Tijdens een time-out gaf ik ze opdracht om het hoofd koel te houden. Dat hebben de spelers gedaan. Met 25 – 16 was het natuurlijk klaar. En nu de finale. Als je die speelt, dan moet je hem ook winnen.”
