Monique Tijsterman en OCI-Lions gaan na dit seizoen uit elkaar. Eerder werd gemeld dat club en coach dichtbij een verlenging van de samenwerking waren. Daar komt maandagavond verandering in.
Volgens de Limburgse titelkandidaat lopen de ambities tussen beide partijen om te professionaliseren te ver uit elkaar. Het vertrek van Tijsterman gaat gepaard met het vertrek van een aantal kopstukken van de club. Waar talenten Luc Steins en Kay Smits een volgende stap in hun carriere maken, wordt het contract van routiniers Vernooy en Mullens niet verlengd.
Timing
Het gerucht van de scheiding tussen de succescoach en regerend landskampioen werd vanmiddag de wereld in geholpen. In de handbalwereld werden meerdere vraagtekens bij de timing van het nieuws gezet. Zaterdagmiddag kunnen de Lions het landskampioenschap in de tweede finalepartij binnen slepen.
