Voor de beslissende ronde in de nacompetitie van de eerste divisie stond de ploeg uit ’t Veld op exacte hoogte met belager DSVD. Beide ploegen hadden acht punten uit vijf duels en een doelsaldo van +19. VZV, vorig seizoen nog actief in de tweede divisie, won ruim van Foreholte: 26-14. Bij rust was het verschil tussen beide ploegen slechts twee treffers (9-7). De basis voor de overwinning van de formatie van Betty Plasmeyer werd in de swingende tweede helft gelegd.
DSVD bezwijkt onder druk
Het telraam kon uiteindelijk in de kast blijven. In Twente verloor DSVD van Fortissimo. De ploeg van Herman Keppels stond bij 22-19 voor, maar bezweek onder de druk: 24-26. Ondanks een uitstekend seizoen komt DSVD ook na de zomer uit op het een na hoogste niveau.
Zo is het volgend seizoen geen United Breda uit voor Lotte Prak – oud-speelster van het Duitse Thüringer HC – en co, maar wachten vaderlandse grootmachten als VOC, Quintus en Dalfsen.
